The ability to see goodness

When I worked at Learning Experiences, Inc., we sometimes took the students to the mall. I recall one afternoon when the students were having fun together, walking arm-and-arm in the fashion of “Hey, we’re the Monkeys.” A mall security guard stopped to give them a hard time. What struck me was the inability of this authority to distinguish between criminal activity and kids just having fun. There was nothing destructive or even disturbing to the peace about what the kids were doing. But the cop was unable to see the difference between something good and something bad.

This is the unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit: the inability to see goodness.
