We talk of a personal relationship with God. If that means anything, it means that God loves me for who I am (meaning me, specifically) and I love God for who he is (because of his character). What exactly do you love about God? What attribute or perfection? I submit that loving God for the quality of his character, rather than simply because he is God, would represent real growth for most of us.
