Jules Henri Poincaré wrote, “Science is built up of facts, as a house is with stones. But a collection of facts is no more a science than a heap of stones is a house.” I agree, but would add the following: “When a mountain of facts cannot influence opinion, this is evidence that the opinion in question is not a matter of science, but a matter of faith.”
