Teaching

Courses and Materials

  • Cellular Biophysics and Modeling book: A graduate-level introduction to mathematical and computational modeling of excitable cells, emphasizing biophysical mechanisms, stochasticity, and numerical simulation.

  • Cellular Biophysics and Modeling course: Course materials that connect the textbook to model construction, analysis, and simulation.

  • Computational Neuroscience: Applied mathematical modeling of neurons and neural circuits, including conductance-based models, reduced models, and computational experiments.

  • Science & Authority: A seminar on scientific knowledge, trust, expertise, uncertainty, and the social authority of science.

Summer School

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory International Summer School on Computational Cell Biology (2008-2013)

Participants in the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Computational Cell Biology summer school
The CSHL CCB Course was an intensive three-week event involving about 24 graduate students and 20 lecturers. The summer school impacted many domestic and international graduate students, post-docs, and junior faculty. Each year, 1-4 W&M undergraduates audited the summer school with support from my NSF grants or the CSUMS and HHMI programs.
